  • Abstract
Based on emergy analysis, this paper selects 40 more original indices such as society, ecology, economy etc. to analyze the evolution of ecological environment and resources exploitation in Xinjiang province during the past 50 years (1949-2002) by means of TM data analysis software. According to the analysis result, we discovered a leap curve of ELR (the environmental loading ratio). It analyzes the character of resources exploitation and economic development, proves up the trend of resources exploitation and economic development, by analyzing the trend of emergy-based sustainable development indices of Xinjiang province. At the last, it summarizes evolution of ecological environment and resources exploitation in order to correspond the coupling relationship between economic development and environment, and supply strategies for sustainable development of Xinjiang or other arid areas.
