Abstract
This article describes an IT tool, MaxCompetence, which was developed for administering competence assessments and conducting development needs analysis. The tool was built based on competence models that have been applied effectively in human resource development. Competence models are used for identifying the skills, knowledge, self-concepts and characteristics as demonstrated by an individual´s work behavior in achieving high work performance. Evaluating an individual manager´s competence is administered by using a multi-source, multi-rater feedback system provided by MaxCompetence. The feedback system helps an individual manager develop by changing his self-image, enhancing his skills, reducing his development needs and increasing his self-awareness.
