Abstract
Four different arrangements of polarization diversity microstrip patch antennas that are suitable for mobile terminal applications have been investigated. Both experimental and calculated results are given, showing that the coupling and the correlative coefficient of signals depend on the relative polarization directions, the distance between two antennas and the εr of the substrate used for the microstrip patch antennas. For the sake of coupling, correlative coefficient and space limitations, the back-to-back integration configuration is relatively better to put into a mobile terminal (e.g., laptops and wireless network cards) and the cross-patch antennas are potentially very good for handsets.
