Abstract
We investigate the (retro)focusing resolution of UWB TR electromagnetic (EM) pulses in continuous random media with respect to statistical parameters of the media by means of numerical simulations employing the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. We verify that multiple scattering in the intervening random medium produces super-resolution, i.e. a better focusing resolution of the retrofocused EM waves than is achievable according to the classical diffraction limit (in homogeneous media). The effects of (de)polarization on the retrofocusing resolution of time reversed EM waves are also considered with no analogy in the acoustic case.
