Abstract
This work explains and describes the evolution of ATS (air traffic services) messaging including the background, standards and constraints which ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) is working within and the new methods/protocols to provide better transference of information on ATN (aeronautical telecommunication network). There are many plans to take advantage of this new technology at both Brazilian Universities, mainly at ITA (Technological Institute of Aeronautics), and some industries.
