Abstract
A novel antenna of planar monopole type is designed for broadband applications. The bandwidth defined by S11 < -10dB of the proposed antenna is about 562 MHz from 1541 to 2103 MHz and about 246 MHz from 2288 to 2534 MHz, if defined by S11 < -8dB it will cover the frequency ranges of the digital communication system, personal communication system, international mobile telecommunication, and 2.4G WLAN. The antenna was simulated and measured, and simulated results are essentially in agreement with those of experiment.
