Abstract
Tumultuous and dynamic markets demand faster changes in their production systems. Frequent changes in order to implement new functionality is time consuming. Reconfigurability could offer a solution by using standard and open methods to represent information. Machines setup time could be decreased obtaining tested and dependable control modules from the device designer. In this way, control modules have to comply with basic characteristics like modularity and platform independence. Knowing fundamental features, constrains and services offered by devices will allow engineers a fast development of the system. This paper describes a methodology that goes from services identification until design of control modules for re configurable mechatronic devices in the manufacturing domain
