  • Abstract
    Local authorities across Europe are looking at how metro-wide Wi-Fi can meet the objectives of city-scale mobile broadband access for public sector employees. At the same time, service providers see public Wi-Fi hotzone as a revenue opportunity. This session explores the opportunities and challenges facing local government and carriers in working together to deliver broadband for all.1) Enabling the wireless city; keys drivers for local authorities 2) Wireless CCTV, Wi-Fi and VoIP in the town center; will it work? 3) The network; who´s funding it and who´s managing it? 4) Designing for city-wide Wi-Fi ´hotzone´ coverage Frequencies and power limits; understanding EU legal constraints 5) Looking ahead to Wi-Fi, WiMAX and HSDPA; how they all fit.
