Abstract
We describe how an optical hybrid packet and circuit switched network can be designed to meet all transmission and distribution requirements of multiservice networks, like TV-networks. In particular, we demonstrate that an optical hybrid network offering both a guaranteed service by transmitting packets on fixed paths in a wavelength routed optical network and a lower statistically multiplexed service class, can be used throughout the chain of networks needed for TV-broadcasting
