Abstract
The capacity estimation of ad hoc networks is a challenging performance analysis issue. In this paper we employ a statistical method based on the probability density function of Signal-to-Interference-plus-Noise-Ratio (SINR) to characterize the capacity problem. The channel parameters as path loss, shadowing, fading, etc. are considered in this method. We first establish the accuracy of the method with comparison its results with the previous works. Then, using this method an exact value for the capacity of the ad hoc and mesh networks are presented according to the allocated resources to the network. The network scalability problem is examined and the accuracy and efficiency of the presented technique are discussed.
