  • Abstract
    Cathodoluminescence study of titanium dioxide nanocrystalline powders shows that a strong contribution arises in the visible range from emission bands associated with surface defects. The authors have found that oxygen-vacancy defects are created at the surface of the TiO 2 nanocrystallites during a reduction process carried out in hydrogen atmosphere at 800 degC. The emission band associated with this defect is situated at a wavelength of 480 nm
