Abstract
Doha, the capital of Qatar, has experienced fast economic growth with rapid changes and urbanization during the last several years. Water demand is increasing rapidly, while water resources remain scarce. Managing water in Doha has become a major challenge, with the combination of IT solutions with expert water resources management as key factors for success. Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System (SCADA), along with appropriate telecommunications, field instrumentation and advanced management applications based on pressure control and effective water leakage management are the essential concepts behind the new water management in Doha, designed by consultant and project supervisor, PB Power, and currently in execution by IT solutions provider Telvent.
