Abstract
This paper discusses two versions of resonator that appear well suited for millimetre wave applications. The first proposed solution is given by the whispering gallery mode (WGM) dielectric resonator. The second proposed solution is a variant of the so called nonradiative configuration (nonradiative metallic resonator). The key element of both the proposed solutions is given by their open configuration, namely by a configuration not completely shielded by metallic surfaces.
