Abstract
An efficient procedure is proposed to predict the performance of large finite arrays from a smaller array. The procedure depends on the knowledge of the mutual admittance matrix of the small array. The mutual admittance matrix of the large array is constructed from the small array ignoring the coupling beyond the small array size. Once the mutual admittance is constructed the effective input impedances of the array elements under different scanning directions and different power distributions are computed. An air filled microstrip antenna is considered. The results obtained using the present method is verified by a full wave numerical analysis of the large array.
