Abstract
The faulty feeder identification method for the non-effectively earthed network using transient signals is introduced. Practical field experiences with the method are presented. The transient method is proved effective in identifying the feeder with the metal and low resistance fault, while further investigation is needed to improve its high resistance performances. Analysis to the field recordings revealed some of the permanent faults have foreboding temporary faults. The transient method offers the possibility of identifying feeders with the incipient faults, which provides valuable condition monitoring information.
