Abstract
Antenna issues arising from the cognitive radio concept are introduced. There are many possible ways in which cognitive radio systems could be configured. The range of possible antenna reconfiguration requirements is discussed, and some design approaches are outlined. Antenna reconfiguration may involve bandwidth, pattern and polarisation.
