Abstract
This paper investigates the application of Points Condition Monitoring (PCM) to various types of points machines and signalling systems in use throughout the UK and Overseas. It seeks to investigate some of the requirements for a universal PCM system suitable for UK and Overseas railways. Covering the monitoring of different types of points machines, points detection circuits and how they interface with signalling control systems.
