  • Abstract
Failure is one of the important issues in ad hoc network. To transmit the response message, DSR or AODV algorithms reuse a path that was established during the message transfer request. In this case, the failure of the mobile host on the established path is more sensitive. We propose a novel approach to make robust algorithms by preventing this failure problem. The failure is classified in two types according to possibility of prediction: the predictable failure and the unpredictable failure. Predictable failure caused by the limited power and the mobility of a mobile host. On the other hand, unpredictable failure occurs suddenly without enough time for the problem solving. This paper suggests a novel approach that can treat the problem actively and intelligently for a predictable failure. This approach is similar to the procedure of showing a co-worker the ropes in company. In other words, when the failure of a mobile host on the established path is predicted, the mobile host delegates power to a neighbor, and then notifies to a previous mobile host on the path.
