Abstract
Wireless location technology is a potentially important tool in clinical monitoring applications, yet many issues remain regarding location estimating accuracy and ease of installation. A simple method was recently developed which employs currently available home monitoring systems, coupled with a signal processing algorithm which maps a stream of received radio frequency (RF) signals onto an abstract plane, preserving the essential features of the trajectory while avoiding the more difficult problem of location estimation. We present in this article a validation study, based on data obtained by the RF tracking system installed in parallel with a sensor network.
