Abstract
It is very important to register GIS data and satellite images in many applications. In this paper, a novel strategy is proposed to register seamless digital geological maps (vector layer) and ASTER VNIR images (raster layer) using a 9th-vector-decomposition based mutual information similarity measure. Three approaches are adopted to enhance the optimization process of the non-convex registration function. The experimental results are very promising. It shows that our proposed strategy outperforms the normal methods.
