Abstract
Along with the wide and deep use of information technology, much research has focused on how to impose the technology of databases to handle geographic data also in terms of temporal features. Recently, field databases emerge as an important research issue in order to deal with complex phenomena in real world, and to develop better approaches to store and manage field-based data such as intensity and dynamical information of city air pollutants including CO, SO2, NO2, TSP, PM10 etc. The paper proposed a new method to store and manage city air pollutants data through an extension mechanism provided by ORDBMS. The extensions mainly referred to extend spatio-temporal analysis functions between different air pollutants data sources. An application of city air pollutants information system was developed using the field-based extended database management method. By using the system, effective data management and useful information accession were achieved.
