Abstract
Gage control in a cold tandem rolling mill requires improvement in gage accuracy during steady state rolling and a decrease off-gage length in unsteady state rolling. The former can be accomplished by the introduction of high-speed hydraulic push-down AGC, roll eccentricity control, the keyless bearings and others. The most effective measure for accomplishing the latter is the method of minimizing the square-sum integration value of gage deviations of the respective stands. The drastically reduce off-gage length fully continuous rolling is advantageous. This can be achieved by the use of both high-accuracy schedule calculations and effective flying gage changes.
