Abstract
This paper studies the application of H∞ optimal control with μ-synthesis for a high performance bank-to-turns missile autopilot. The H∞-μ autopilot is synthesized by the D-K iteration procedure developed by Doyle. This autopilot is compared with two alternative designs obtained using classical and LQ design methods. Comparisons of performance, robustness to complex variations, and robustness to real parameter variations are presented. Robustness to real parameter variations is determined by using the deGaston-Safonov procedure.
