Abstract
Seven information security issues are addressed: the information explosion; the conflict between a free society and information security; defining "sensitive information"; industry concerns versus governmental concerns; the market for security technology; the cost of such technology; and the "drivers" behind expanded application of information security in the sensitive, but unclassified, community of users.
