Abstract
In conventional environmental control by air conditioning, independent systems of heating and cooling are used, one consuming energy to provide heat whilst the other uses energy to reject it. If both systems are called upon to operate at the same time there is scope for recovering the waste heat from the cooling plant and re-using it for space or water heating. This Paper shows that where compression refrigeration is used, the temperature of the heat source should be limited for economic reasons.
