Abstract
We present a new algorithm for simulating fireworks animation based on the particle system and physical dynamics principle. The physical processing of fireworks and rendering is full implemented on Graphics Processing Unit(GPU). By using the multiple passages and programmable ability of GPU, it is probable to increase a numerous of particles in the simulation to enhance the reality of the scenes, also improve the running efficiency. Furthermore, making use of the point sprites which supported by the hardware unit for the particle rendering, to render the particles in many ways.Realistic characteristic of fireworks and efficiency of program are achieved and also satisfy the real time running requirement of the system, and can be applied in Virtual Reality System.
