Abstract
This paper presents the results of experimental measurements of the effects of the hand and head on mobile phone antenna performance. Loss caused by the head and hand as well as the impedance mismatch loss of a triple-resonance Planar Inverted F-Antenna were measured with altogether six different phantom hand grips. Head and hand-caused losses from 1.4 dB to 9.5 dB and hand-caused losses from 0.0 dB to 6.7 dB were measured.
