This paper will be a ldquopart II discussionrdquo in power management and load shedding systems for production facilities. In several recent projects in Angola and Nigeria the requirements for power management were similar and power distribution and control systems (PDCS) are getting installed. As a result of this there have been some learning and a determination that additionally technology can be layered in to gain optimum performance from power generation and distribution systems. With this paper, we will share some best practices in designing complex systems and also discuss how technology can be utilized to optimize the performance of electrical system assets. This paper will cover: 1. network and data strategies 2. utilizing data produced for success 3. leveraging system modeling for optimization 4. employing system asset management for: a. emissions modeling and optimization b. pre-emptive load shedding. The final results and lessons learned during the execution of several projects will be detailed in this paper.
