  • Abstract
Saving data to 2-dimensional adjacent tables which are in memory or to database are adopted by most schemes when maintaining topology data dynamically. However, the adjacent tables would consume significant cost of the memory. Plus, network administration would have to do redundant and repeating work to compile the topology if services are rebooted, which would be absolutely inconvenient and ineffective. Although database records the linking and hierarchy information in terms of items, it would complicate the initialization of topology. To avoid all the disadvantages mentioned above, a new solution is proposed in this paper to save data to xml files. Since topology is shown on the basis of SVG files which relate to xml, the consistency of format between xml and SVG would improve the speed of regenerating topology diagram vastly. At the same time, the linking relations and the hierarchy idea are also involved in this paper. Testing results show that the SVG files created by dynamically interactive scripts and the xml files obtained by saving topology are consistent in file format.
