Abstract
The modern sea combat is a typical complex adaptive system (CAS), involving a large number of subjective and qualitative factors, which is difficult to explore for many traditional methods. This paper adopts artificial life to establish a simulation system of modern anti-surface warfare of warship fleet to research the impact of the important subjective and qualitative factors on the warfare result. First, Agent architecture is improved to meet the need of Agent evolvement, one of the most important features of artificial life. Then through the decision-making-factor structure which represents the subjective and qualitative factors, it develops the Agent decision-making model. What is more, genetic algorithm was taken to implement Agent evolvement. At last, according to the result of a typical scenario, it analyzes the effect of the decision-making-factor structure on the warfare outcome. From the study, some conclusions can be reached. First, the new architecture of Agent is capable of meeting the need of Agent evolvement. Second, artificial life is a new feasible means for studying quantitatively on subjective and qualitative factors and also a suitable method to disclose the whole rules of the sea combat.
