Abstract
In this paper, we intend to investigate the pulse propagation through standard hexagonal photonic crystal fiber (PCF) by both finite element method (FEM) and split step Fourier method (SSFM). We determine the propagation constant through the numerical simulation which reveals the novel fact that higher order dispersions, self phase modulation (SPM) and self steepening (SS) can be controlled by the size of air hole. By using numerical analysis, we investigate the dynamical behavior of fundamental soliton in solid core PCF using a generalised nonlinear Schrodinger equation (NLSE). Finally, we compare the results with different designing parameters of PCF.
