Abstract
Command, control, communication and intelligence network for defence are becoming reliant on automated systems by taking advantage of modern electrical and electronic technology. The state-of-the art computerized systems opted for expeditious, reliable and cost- effective services are, however, increasingly susceptible to upset or permanent damage due to the destructive effect of electromagnetic pulse (EMP). This paper discusses the mechanisms of EMP generation, its destructive effect and protection methods for C3 I network.
