Abstract
Modular design is a valid design method in the mechatronics product design process, which has an important effect on the product development. This paper is devoted to presenting a systematic modular design approach based on mechatronics product modular model and its interface. After mechatronics product modular model is proposed, modular interface technology is then proposed. Feature-based modular modeling design method using object-oriented idea is then put forward. The modular design of a robot arm is given as an example, which demonstrates that the methodology is obviously helpful for product development.
