  • Abstract
    Based on the literature review of design chain, the framework of collaborative product design towards design chain was established. This framework included two phases of knowledge acquisition and product design which subjected to operation process, also included three aspects of customer and design team of manufacturing enterprise and supplier which subjected to organization structure. According to this framework this paper putted forward the process model of collaborative product design based on knowledge management. This process model firstly could realize the information communication and sharing among the design group´s activities under the environment of distributed design. Next, it could support the collaborative work of design staff and team with different knowledge background. At last, it could effectively acquire and store the large number of knowledge and experience which the design staff has produced in the working process, and could realize the description and retrieval standardization of knowledge resource.
