Abstract
The numbers of high-risk pregnancies and premature births are increasing due to the steadily higher age of pregnancy. Medical simulators are used in training the doctors to deal with emergent perinatal situations. To enhance the training effect, sophisticated simulators are integrated into a realistic training environment that takes into account the medical instruments and team aspects. The training environment becomes increasingly complex and requires a clear structure for different training scenarios and flexible hardware configurations. Distributed multi-agent software architecture with peer to peer communication facilities is developed for this purpose. The architecture is presented in this paper.
