  • Abstract
In this paper we present a concept for maintaining the three dimensional aspect ratio of a given 3D image or video upon resizing the viewing window or changing the display size altogether. A stereoscopic 3D scene that is resized horizontally and vertically will appear skewed along the z-axis. That is, the perceptual depth will grow aproportionally because the disparity grows linear with the resizing factor. The geometric model explained in this paper solves this problem by deriving a non-linear resize factor that non-linearly alters the depth dependent disparity of a stereo or multi-baseline camera rig, and thereby preservers proper aspect ratios in the third dimension on arbitrary displays and viewport sizes.
