  • Abstract
There are many media players that can combine videos with independent caption files. It is hence proposed that the foreign language caption should be expanded to a text containing also a list of key words appeared in the caption, followed by their definitions, memory skills and so on. The approach to learn foreign language based on a mixture of video scenes and related text is called VST. The details of VST system are presented. Based on the vocabulary of CET-4 and CET-6, we give a lexical analysis of some English language videos with C computer programs. Furthermore, a concordance of CET-4 vocabulary based on videos is given. Finally, it is concluded that watching TV shows and movies based on VST can stimulate interest in learning, and provide a sustained way to master English well, thus is a good example of quality education and lifelong learning.
