Abstract
This article describes the development and testing of a special high precision positioning system for an axis of a geodesic monitoring system. One of the reference inputs for the positioning system is the intensity of a beam reflected by a Lüneburg lens. This lens is mounted at every point that ought to be monitored regarding its displacement. Considering the large distances between the point to be monitored and the point from which the measurement is undertaken, the positioning precision is a very important factor, with great influence on the results. The final goal of the authors is to build an embedded system, which could control two axes and which should represent a thorough, high precision, geodesic monitoring system dedicated especially to hydro-energetic dams.
