  • Abstract
This paper uses statistic and nonlinear regression approaches to describe and evaluate the changes of the cyanobacteria growth in the Guishui lake in Beijing remote suburb. The results show that high ratios of TN/TP (>20), and low concentrations of TP (<;0.3 mg/L), and COD (<;30 mg/L) may constrain the growths of the cyanobacteria in the lake. The cyanobacteria growths are positively related with the concentrations of TP x COD, TN and pH. Based on the tested data from six water quality monitoring sites, two nonlinear regression formulas on the growths of blue algae cells was established. The calculated results on the number of the cyanobacteria via the nonlinear regression formulas are in good agreement with the tested data.
