  • Abstract
An application-specific integrated circuit that implements the analog front-end (AFE) for the sensing section of a wireless bioelectrical impedance sensor is presented. The measurement principle is based on the magnitude-ratio and phase-difference detection method, which reduces circuit realization complexity as compared to conventional techniques. The AFE includes an instrumentation amplifier and a gain-phase detector, and is designed to operate with 3 V of supply voltage over an input signal frequency range from 1 kHz to 1 MHz. A test chip was fabricated in 0.35-μm CMOS technology. Preliminary experimental results of the AFE are reported.
