Abstract
We measured the differential mode delay (DMD) of a commercial multimode optical fiber (MMF) having a length of 10 m by using a simple fiber intermodal interferometer optimized for the 850-nm band used in highspeed local area networking. The proposed technique is a more practical measurement technique than the previously reported transmission-type measurement technique for the field testing of short MMFs already installed in networks.
