Abstract
Sea ice in Bohai is a great threat to activity and transportation on the sea, but it is also a potential freshwater resource. Traditional monitoring methods are more limited by time and space. Lately, using modern remote sensing technology to monitor sea ice has some development. It implements the pre-work such as the MODIS data calibration, data positioning, zenith angle revising, the edge of overlapping data removing, as well as the elimination of noise. The Bohai sea ice and sea water in the MODIS spectral characteristics of each channel is analyzed. Respectively, Spectral analysis methods and support vector machine method is used to achieve the region´s sea ice detection. The results compared with the National Satellite Meteorological Center´s are of high consistency.
