  • Abstract
    Voltage disturbances specially voltage sags can cause significant problems and losses for electricity users. Dynamic voltage restorer (DVR) is a series compensator device that can hold load voltage partially isolated from grid side disturbances. A DVR based-on matrix converter topology is proposed in this paper. A control algorithm using d-q transformation is introduced to generate the reference voltages of the DVR. A conventional DVR with voltage source inverter (VSI) and diode bridge rectifier is also implemented to compare the results. Finally a typical distribution feeder is simulated using PSCAD/EMTDC software and the performance of DVR during different sag and swell conditions is examined.
