An Approach to Inventory Research for Service-Oriented Manufacturing Workshop

As an essential component, inventory plays an important role in production and circulation of products. To clarify inventory issues of service-oriented manufacturing workshop, a research approach based on production services is presented. First, we investigate the characteristics of service-oriented manufacturing inventory system (so-MIS). Then, a conceptual framework for enabling so-MIS is put forward. Using combinatorial theory, we formulate the above framework. Finally, a case study in cutting-tool inventory is discussed to verify the proposed approach.
