Abstract
Gangue hill is a production in mining area which piles up by the disordered accumulation of coal waste. Because of its poor stability, landslide may easily arise when meet disadvantages and accordingly cause enormous destruction of geological hazard. It was found that the traditional safety factor method risks failure when evaluate the stability of gangue hills if the variability and fuzziness of parameters are not considerded. In this paper a stability analysis method-fuzzy point evaluation method is presented based on reliability theory and fuzzy theory. It is more practical and efficient for gangue hill stability assessment. As a typical example, this method is applied to evaluate the stability of a gangue hill in Songzao Coal Mine, Chongqing. The results show the failure possibility of the hill is very high.
