  • Abstract
    Base on the Visual C++ and MATLAB software, a psychoacoustical evaluation system (PES) for sound quality of vehicle noise is developed in this paper. This system can be used for real-time sound signal acquisition, time-frequency analysis and psychoacoustical evaluation of vehicle noises. The software packages include 1/n octave filtering, short-time Fourier transform (STFT), A-, B-, C- and D-weighting analysis and psychoacoustical analysis, etc., The evaluation results of the engine noises from the Volkswagen type AJR suggest that the newly developed system is accurate and reliable, and may be used for noise evaluation and acoustical design of vehicles.
