Abstract
We have examined a model of early drug distribution to be used in adaptive antiarrhythmic drug delivery. This two-compartment model includes a simple time delay to compensate for the dynamics of drug transport and mixing. The model parameters for 19 patients were found by non-linear regression. The average model time-delay was found to be 70 seconds for the Class 1A antiarrhythmic drugs disopyramide and procainamide. The two-compartment model with time-delay was found to be a suitable model for use with an adaptive control scheme.
