Abstract
In this paper the concept of planar microwave breast imaging using a modulated scattering technique-based imaging system is further developed. By considering a breast compression similar to the one used in existing X-ray mammography, leads to a simplified limited-view imaging problem where the planar geometry seems to be a very attractive alternative. The key features of the system under development are described together with a numerical validation. It is found that applying breast compression, in 2D cases using a Newton-Kantorovich algorithm, can reduce the limited-view artefacts.
