Abstract
It is common to approximate statistical properties of non-Gaussian interference as Gaussian when analyzing its impact on the quality of reception of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signals. However, it is not simple to define conditions for applying this approximation with a given accuracy. In this paper, accuracy of the approximation is investigated focusing on its application to impulsive interference. A simple criterion is obtained in terms of the number of the subcarriers in OFDM and impulsiveness of the interference input to the receiver.
