  • Abstract
    Conventional feedback based flexible reference frames/reference picture selection (RPS) technique is implemented in a single spatial layer of video coding, e.g. H.264/AVC. In this paper, we extend RPS technique into Scalable Video Coding, i.e. H.264/SVC, wherein error-free reference frames available not only from the same spatial layer but also from other spatial layer in the encoder and decoder sides are selected and used for prediction reference. And we enhance VCEG 3G offline simulation model for two spatial and interactive experiments. We test the proposed technique by using the enhanced 3G offline simulation model. Simulation results showed that our method can achieve evident PSNR gains under 3G erroneous channel conditions.
